About the Role:
This position is perfect for a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) with at least 3-5 years of postarticles experience. The ideal candidate will have successfully managed a large team, engaged with clients directly, and have experience in managing a practice. Reporting to the Group Financial Manager, the successful candidate will take over the role of Financial Manager at wauFM.
Operational Leadership:
- Mentor, lead, and manage team performance. If successful in this role, the candidate may progress to become the Financial Director of wauFM.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight:
- Manage risk and ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as IFRS for SMEs.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for business growth, efficiency and budgetary targets.
- Ensure the department utilises up-to-date technology to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Leverage Xero’s capabilities to optimise financial processes and client service delivery.
- Drive innovation for sustainable growth aligned with the group’s vision.
- Engage with clients at a strategic level, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Foster a culture of excellence and positive discipline.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to maintain industry leaders.
- Implement measures to optimise client’s cash flow, investments, and compliance.
- Oversee junior financial managers and company operations.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Understand client businesses, provide solutions, and manage ongoing relationships.
Reporting and Governance:
- Prepare and present management reports to the Financial Director.
- Maintain risk registers and ensure governance compliance.
- Participate in key meetings with departmental heads, EXCO, and other stakeholders as required.

- Ability to develop and execute strategies that drive growth and efficiency.
- Expertise in financial technologies to enhance efficiency, client service, and streamline operations through identification, implementation, and optimisation of new technologies.
- Proficient in using Xero and cloud-based systems to streamline workflows and enhance reporting processes.
- Detail-oriented, resilient, and ability to perform with accuracy under pressure.
- Upholds a high standard of professionalism, reflecting the company’s values and image.
Minimum Requirements
- CA(SA) qualification with 3-5 years of post-articles experience.
- Proven track record of managing a large team and engaging directly with clients.
- Experience in practice management is advantageous.
