The importance of high-quality office equipment.

There are many advantages to high quality office equipment. The fact remains that fit-for-purpose and good quality equipment plays an important and vital part in the success of any business.

As Abraham Lincoln said – “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” This highlights the importance of using the appropriate tools for the job, and if it’s true for cutting down a tree it certainly holds true for running a business or enterprise.

The use of technology, and more specifically the importance of technology, has grown exponentially over the last few decades. We have seen the likes of Elon Musk who embraces technology to its greatest extent, with an ambition to create a future of endless technological advancements. So, if your business does not learn to adapt and embrace these technology advancements you may run the risk of being left behind.

Besides employees, one of the most important assets your company will need is some form of computer equipment (desktop or laptop). The use of well-specified computer equipment, which includes hardware and software components together with sophisticated cybersecurity control measures will save much time and frustration by means of processing speed (Capabilities) and prevention of any downtime (Cybersecurity or Hacks). Collectively this will increase the efficiency of all your employees and that of your business.

To keep the information simplistic, we provide a simple graphical illustration showing the performance levels between an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and an SSD (Solid State Drive) in terms of processing time. In short, the SSD performs significantly better and faster than the HDD which is clearly more beneficial. See the link below for a detailed comparison SSD vs HDD – Which is Better & What’s the Difference? ( – (

For some of us who “HAD THE PRIVILEGE” of experiencing the HDD era back in the day we were more obsessed with the Hard Disk storage size of an HDD rather than the actual performance of the unit. We must also take into consideration that we were not BLESSED with having any CLOUD solution at our disposal, so we had to maintain and store a considerable amount of data and files using Hard Disk Drives (HDD). When technology started to change, it fundamentally started to change how businesses needed to construct their own business processes and IT/IS infrastructure. With the introduction of the SSD into the market it provided significant improvements to how the computer equipment performed resulting in an improved user experience and user well-being. When a user or employee works in an orderly work environment with less or no technology frustration that should lead them to significantly enhanced performance.

We all had the frustration, at some point in our lives, of not fully understanding why certain printers at random times don’t want to respond. Because we don’t understand the reason or issue, the alternative option was (wait for it – this has crossed your mind before) feeling the urge to throw the printer out the nearest window.

To maintain your sanity, our opinion is to have no printer at all. However, we do understand that certain businesses are heavily reliant on paperwork, due to the nature of their business, so they will need to consider a printer that suits their business needs and requirements. Nowadays most printers are laser printers. Simply put they do not use ink but dust powder instead. The results being having faster printing capabilities, no ink smear, messy lines, fractions of residue after printing or when you need to change the cartridge itself. This will save you time and money.

We at Wauko strived and achieved our goal of being paperless as far as we possibly can with the only exception being certain government departments that still operate on old legacy systems and procedures that still force businesses to make use of hard copies. This is a typical example of entities that are not fully embracing the technology at their disposal and if it wasn’t for their relevancy, they would have been left behind ages ago.

Many companies still use handheld desk phones, which might be considered old school. The work from home era has fundamentally shifted the calling capabilities to your computer, just another benefit of having a powerful computer. You can acquire these voice calling capabilities from Microsoft Teams Calling or any other third-party voice calling service providers. The result is having a clean desk with no access cable or phones just lying around and the employee has the benefit of having their phone with them when they work from home. Most third-party service providers also have a mobile app which you can download to use as a work phone.

The office equipment discussion would not be complete without a mention of office furniture. When you spend most of your day sitting, which most of us do in a business environment, the right posture and office furniture, especially a chair, becomes an important part of the office equipment equation.

Besides the health and comfort aspect of high-quality office furniture the aesthetic appeal is also something worth mentioning. Not only will your offices have a professional and a productive feel for the employees, but the image of professionality and integrity will fit in to your clients’ expectation of your company.

The search for high quality office equipment can be a daunting task. Considering the importance of the topic at hand, it is of the upmost importance that you make the correct investment decision for your business. Many companies opt for the cheapest equipment which in most cases is where the first mistake is made.
